as a school teacher and farmer; elected Sharp Co. Treasurer
for two years around 1872; bought land in Izard Co. and was elected Tax Assessor of that
county for two years in 1884; established a cotton gin a few years later; he was a Baptist;
his grandaughter Stella Meers reported that after returning from the war he could not
abide seeing children playing games that involved them "shooting" at each other; buried at
